Old Bones 03:26
a dog named winter is chasing around its tail a lonely girl swimming has been swallowed by a whale she’s not coming up to where she was before she’s not coming up these old bones are not strong they grind and squeak make a song singing that life isn’t that long these old bones it’s painted on these walls like it’s part of the decor there’s corridors and halls i’m always left unsure whether i should stay in or go out and explore i think i’ll just stay in
2.
don’t bother reading the lines in your hand erase your calendars and change all your plans cause it’s gonna happen even if you don’t intend it to choose a point from a to point b you might get stranded and end up at sea you’ll be wading in shallows losing yourself in over your head what you do is exactly that: the only thing that you could do stuck between timbuktu and timid in most dictionaries lie words about time you’re being born at the same time you die you’re under covers while under the night sky spreading your wings as you're sending your carbon into the earth there’s balls of gas and there’s exploding light an infinite space in an infinite night playing accordion melodies you will never get right
3.
so this is it it’s how it all will end the same way that it began a blinding light and an explosion turn pavement into sand they won’t get you out of this one no matter where you run when the moon falls from its orbit and starts plummeting towards the earth in that bowling lane of confusion i’ll plant myself down in the dirt the oceans rise above our skyscrapers waves become part of the sky everybody prays to a fiction that’s made real before they die it won’t get you out of this one no matter where you hide
4.
Quiet Years 04:36
called by the dreamweaver he asked me where i’d been pulled from my private world to indulge in my sins brought me to velvet rooms filled with bodies and food told me to help myself if i was in the mood they taught me the strange art of dark alchemy mixing ingredients with rare and equal parts toasted the moon, the heavenly bodies drank to my inner core and touched their hearts threw me into a sea of harmony drowned in desire while i was asleep danced with the devil and the dream king they threw me into a sea i woke up to the sound of quiet years out of tune music ringing loudly in my ears a loner laughing, living far away i left my best with them, the price i pay
5.
Portholes 03:44
a window in your attic space a porthole to another place you can only see outside a circle an infinite shape ouroborus the unending snake if you can step between the concrete and the unseen there’s a hole in everything look through if you have sight there’s a song silence can sing if you tune your ear just right behind the big, red stage curtain a wizard pulling all our strings if we can cut them down freely move around we might end up at the same place whether we walk or are carried there we'll all look into the same face it’s the one thing we could share there’s a hole in everything look through if you have sight there’s a song silence can sing if you tune your ear just right
6.
it’s like my brain has been cross-wired i can’t explain it i can see through you and i don’t want to you’ve been holding me up for so long my legs start shaking when you’re not around i feel like falling down it feels like we should part you got in under my skin under my skin like a plane that’s shot down in the dark we can either sink or swim either sink or swim it’s like my brain has been cross-wired i can’t explain it i can see through you and i don’t want to
7.
when you power off that system you leave that world behind stretch your legs like someone stretching truth it feels good to tell that lie thinking back on all those past lives who you were and what you’ve done stand up straight, pull back those drawn curtains disappear into the sun don’t fret you’ll get out of it when the clouds escape the sky flaming hands that try to pull you back interdimensional eye for an eye buy a galaxy for a dime at an ancient antique store use the lives within as fuel for fire like yours is worth a little more
8.
Little Radio 02:28
take it away take it out of my head this little radio is playing i’ve been hanging by a thread if something would come along replace this song i’d be happier then these melodies follow me i can never hear the silence of the night i wish i could say they are tunes i want to hum wish someone would chase them away they’d be forever on the run if something would come along replace this song i’d be happier then these harmonies haunt me i can never hear the silence of the night these melodies follow me i can never hear the silence of the night
9.
we wanted it all we never tried we wanted to change our predictable lives you’re picking up speed running down the hillside we wanted release we wanted to fly they’re coming for me from all sides they’re coming for me, don’t you try They’re coming for me tonight while i sleep
